Blackberry Corporate Email Service Gets Cheaper

April 30, 2010

BESBlackberry recently launched their new BES Express Server software for connection to Microsoft Exchange.

This is a modified (simplified) version of their market leading BES software and is available as freeware from the Blackberry site.

The major benefit is lower running costs of approx £10 per month, compared to the £25 to £35 cost of the full BES product.

Until now the only Blackberry service available at this price point was the Internet based email only flavour.

By installing the BES express software, the client will get full access to Microsoft exchange for Email; Calendar; Tasks and Contacts.

For the IT Manager there is less to play with, as there are less IT policies that can be edited, but for most users the experience will be the same as the old BES Server.

This is Blackberry’s response to the success of Nokia; Windows Mobile and of course Apple in providing Exchange access to mobile users without the extra cost and software required by Blackberry handsets.

The advantages of Blackberry are maintained in the extra security of the BES environment and the design and ease of use of their handsets.
