Chris Get – Engineer
Like Sam, Chris joined Next straight from college, and he’s been with the company for three years.
Chris’ route into the company came via his love of fixing broken things and he first became interested in the repair and engineering side of mobile phones because of his Dad. He was an electronics engineer who was always buying broken electronic equipment to fix, so Chris grew up learning how to fix things from a very early age.
Although Chris reports to Dave, the Technical Services Manager, he pretty much runs the repair centre which carries out Nokia repairs for the whole region. Around 250 to 300 jobs are completed each month and local dealers often pass on customers because they know what a good job the department does.
Chris says the best part of his job is the satisfaction he gets from repairing a broken handset and seeing a smile on the face of a satisfied customer.
Outside work, like other members of the team, he is sporty. He enjoys going to the gym, walking in the park and basketball. He is also saving hard for a house with his girlfriend.
Chris’s ten-year plan is to take on more responsibility and to grow the repair side of the business, with a view to taking on an assistant in time.
